I began painting when

my oldest son was diagnosed with a rare disease. Painting gave me a place of peace to process what was happening. Taking courses to learn new techniques was a distraction in the best way. After my son’s successful treatment, I found myself inspired by immeasurable gratitude, hope, and a new sense of calm, and those emotions found their way onto the canvas. The idea that my paintings could convey a sense of peace to viewers was the driving force behind my art passion becoming JSD Art.

My goal is to bring these positive feelings into your living space to create a moment of calm within your day. Life is incredibly busy for all of us, and as a mother of three young boys, I sometimes need a minute away from the chaos. I love to style art with other treasured objects to give the eye and mind a place to rest, even if just for a few minutes in between the tasks and errands of the day.

I work directly with clients as well as interior designers to create art that captures the essence of a treasured memory or trip, or something that simply completes the aesthetic you’ve already created in your home.

The process is simple (and fun)! We start by meeting to chat about the size piece you have in mind, the space where it will go, the colors you are drawn to, and anything you have that inspires you (a photo, one of my existing paintings, etc.). From there, I will provide cost information, which is based on the size of the piece and materials used. Once we have settled on a budget, I will prepare color and composition samples for you to review and approve before I begin on your piece. You are welcome to be as involved as you like—I have had clients who come to the studio to see their piece in several stages of completion, and others who have told me to “do my thing” and they’ll see it when it’s finished. Both approaches are welcome, as is anything in between. I love taking collectors through the process with me.
